It carried the world s second atomic bomb, the first having been detonated three weeks earlier at a United States test site in Alamogordo, New Mexico. The Enola Gay carried one atomic bomb, with an enriched uranium core. The bomb had been named Little Boy. It had an explosive force of some 12,500 tons of TNT. At 8:15 a.m. that morning, as the citizens of Hiroshima were beginning their day, the Enola Gay released its horrific cargo, which fell for 43 seconds before detonating at 580 meters above Shima Hospital near the center of the city.† â€Å"Three days after destroying Hiroshima, after failing to find an opening in the clouds over its primary target of the city of Kokura, a US B-29 bomber, named Bockscar, attacked the Japanese city of Nagasaki with the world s third atomic weapon. These two stories are â€Å"The Story of an Hour† and â€Å"Desiree’s baby† American author Kate Chopin (1850–1904) wrote two published novels and about a hundred short stories in the 1890s. Actually, she got a very sad childhood. Her sister died in infancy. Her brothers died while she had not twenty-five. And her father died when she only was three. Thus, she just only developed the life with her mother, grandmother, and her great-grandmother. Luckily, she had a good relationship between them. She started to write short stories. Most of her works those theme were feminist, regional local color. Some of the time she was a nonexistent author. In â€Å"The story of an hour†, the background period should be late 19th century. In this period, everyone was tried to promote women’s independence. Some countries and villages in particular sometimes have to drink, bath and wash from the same water. , often coming from rivers. These rivers may consist of animal waste from farms or other houses. Who knows how contaminated the water is. The third and major issue is droughts and floods. Some of the droughts are already under control of mankind, but some of them aren’t. It depends on how much rain there will be and how the climate changes. Research shows us that in areas where the average temperature is normally low, they now experience higher temperatures. There are some places where the rivers were flooding, while now, 30 years later they cannot even put their boats in the river because the water level is too low. The leading reason of water waste is irrigation. 70% of the water use goes to irrigation, 20% to industry and the remaining 10% is used for residential purposes.. Lester Brown who is an American environmental analyst describes the growing problem. â€Å"Globally, demand for water had triples over the last half century, millions of irrigation wells have been drilled, pushing water withdrawals beyond recharge rates. † In conclusion we have to realize that we cannot waste any more water today so that we will still have water in the future for us and for the next generation. We have to think about how the next generation will not have enough water if we don’t start saving water today! There are several things that we can do to preserve and conserve water. Let’s examine the advantage of using adverbs, instead of grammar, to express time. There are certain grammatical structures that show when two actions happen in relationship to each other. However, these structures are complicated and can be difficult for non-native speakers of English to understand. For example: Before I reported my findings to the team, I had attended the conference. This sentence is grammatically correct, but it is long and uses two different past tenses to show which action happened first. Instead, you can write this: First, I went to the conference. She was unloved and treated badly, and had already developed a determination to stand up for herself and fight for her independence. The young Jane had baffled Mrs Reed, who could obviously not understand â€Å"how for nine years you could be patient and quiescent under any treatment, and in the tenth break out all fire and violence†. At Gateshead she is unhappy and when Mr Lloyd questions her after the â€Å"red-room incident†, she is shown to be naà ¯ve and ignorant of life. She has no real picture of honest, decent, working people and her experience of poverty is limited to her aunt’s nasty comments about her relatives and to the few poor villagers she has seen.
